Scott Dixon leads the Indianapolis 500 under red flag conditions as the expected rain has hit the track.
With 101 laps of the 200 required to be completed for the race to be official, the field crept over this mark under caution following Will Power’s Andretti suffering a gearbox failure and spinning out into the Turn 1 pit-exit lane.
This prompted the caution period and a round of pit-stops, where Dixon kept the lead from Ganassi team-mate Alex Palou, but the race did not resume immediately as the expected rain hit the circuit – albeit only in small sprinkles and drizzles.
If the race does not resume, Dixon will be a two-time Indy 500 winner, coming 18 years after his first in 2008.
UPDATE: After a nine-minute red flag period, engines were refired as the race restarted for the remaining 94 laps.
The order under the red flag is as follows.
