Oliver Rowland strategic masterclass secures Monaco Formula E victory

Cody Rhodes in

Reigning Formula E world champion Oliver Rowland delivered a masterful display to win the second race of the Monaco E-Prix double-header.

The Nissan driver who started from eighth, managed his energy perfectly, to secure his first victory of the season and his second in Monaco, following a win last year at the Principality.

There was jubilation at Andretti, as rookie Felipe Drugovich claimed a first podium in the all-electric series in second.

Antonio Felix da Costa completed the podium, despite a spin on the opening lap at the Nouvelle chicane. The Jaguar driver was tagged by Edoardo Mortara, resulting in a 10-second time penalty.

Mortara had crossed the line in second, although the punishment demoted him to fifth behind championship leader Mitch Evans.

Dan Ticktum’s frustration continued after another excellent pole position, this time with a five-second time penalty for overspeeding under a full course yellow hurting his race.

Ticktum’s Cupra Kiro teammate, Pepe Marti, also had a race to forget after crashing out at the penultimate corner on lap 18 a day after his first Formula E podium.
