Lewis Hamilton is under investigation for allegedly leaving the track and gaining an advantage during the closing stages of the sprint at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Ferrari driver had an eventful race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, after striking the wall of champions with the rear corner of his SF-26 whilst running fourth.
The seven-time F1 drivers’ champion was ahead of Oscar Piastri and team-mate Charles Leclerc, but slumped to sixth on the final lap.
When asked what happened following the 24-lap contest in Montreal, Hamilton explained: “Piastri got alongside me into the last corner and basically overtook me, and then through that lost position to Charles.”
The incident that has caused the investigation was not broadcast, but happened at Turn 13, which is the final chicane on the circuit.
