Team Verstappen narrowly misses out on pole in spectacular Nurburgring 24 Hours qualifying

Team Verstappen narrowly missed out on pole position for the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

It was Dani Juncadella driving for the #3 Mercedes GT3 outfit in the fight for pole, after Lucas Auer and Max Verstappen completed Top Qualifying 1 and 2, respectively.

Juncadella had two laps to try to clinch a famous pole, with his first lap putting him down in ninth on the timesheets after posting a 8m 18s.

It was almost seven seconds adrift of Marco Mapelli in the #130 Lamborghini, elevating the pressure on Juncadella’s final lap.

He found huge amounts of time to make a significant improvement, although narrowly missed out on pole.

The Lamborghinis proved too strong, with the #84 Lamborghini securing pole ahead of the #7 Lamborghini and the #16 Audi. Verstappen’s outfit had to settle for fourth, just eight tenths adrift of pole.
